Warehouse Technician Job Summary:

Handles incoming and outgoing inventories in the warehouse following established procedures. Works to complete the Warehouse Certification Program and pursues the Big Six of Service Excellence consistent with CSP's stated mission and philosophy.

Essential Functions:

  • Receiving:
    1. Verify the box counts from the delivery drivers.
    2. Check for visible and obvious damage to products as well as any "hidden" damage.
    3. Report damages to purchasing as soon as they are discovered.
    4. Properly identify all products.
    5. Properly separate and label all products.
    6. Discard original shipping material only after product is completely readied for put–away.
    7. Receive all special shipments (URED, UBLU, FED EX, OVERNIGHT) and products on the "heads up" board ASAP.
    8. Stamp all packing slips with the receiving stamp indicating the date received and the initials of the person who received it.
    9. Maintain order and cleanliness in the receiving area.
  • Put Away:
    1. Complete all put–aways by 12:00 noon.
    2. Do a double check of all items to be put away.
    3. Note all discrepancies on an exception form.
    4. Turn in discrepancies/exception forms to purchasing.
    5. Put product away in a neat and organized manner maximizing available shelf space.
    6. Rotate stock. Newly received product is to be placed behind old stock.
    7. Label product correctly.
  • Pulling:
    1. Begin pulling promptly at 11:00.
    2. Check the pick ticket to make sure all special instructions have been followed.
    3. Be speedy, but not at the expense of accuracy.
    4. Utilize both EZ# and manufacturer's part #.
    5. Place product in packing bins in an organized manner.
    6. Make the sales department aware of shortages on the order
  • Packing:
    1. Mark all items with an EZ number or the manufacturer's part number. Bag loose parts and write the EZ number on the bag.
    2. Do not ship damaged or defective merchandise.
    3. Pack items with labels facing up where practical for quick check–in.
    4. Pack fragile items on top or in separate boxes.
    5. Follow correct box selecting and correct packaging procedures.
    6. Keep UPS shipments under 70lbs.
    7. Always try to re–box product so that if it needs to be returned, the original packing will not be destroyed.
  • Manifest:
    1. Begin manifest by 3:30pm.
    2. Remember, this is the last line of defense against errors.
    3. Act as the branch scoreboard (know the branch averages for shipping and keep co–workers informed about the days progress).
  • Returns:
    1. Treat RGA's with some degree of urgency.
    2. Process an RGA from start to finish.
    3. Be sure RGA paperwork exists and is properly filled out.
    4. Follow procedures for processing non–stock items.
    5. Check on the condition of the product.
    6. Verify/confirm damages listed on the return.
  • Stock Transfers between branches
  • Cycle Counts:
    1. Strive for a 95% cycle count accuracy rate, part of the "Big 6"
  • Will Call:
    1. Prioritize customers
    2. Handle Will Call pick tickets within 30 minutes of printing.
    3. Print and document pick up invoice
    4. Forklift Operation
    5. Safe Delivery
    6. Stand ready to assist purchasing, data entry or inside sales if needed to meet 100% on time shipments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience.
  • 1–3 years experience in warehouse preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Product knowledge of door hardware
  • Knowledge of computer skills in MS Office
  • Must be familiar with and able to use warehouse handling equipment, i.e., gas/electric forklifts, pallet–jack, electric pallet–jack, hand trucks, etc.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/carry/reach materials
  • Ability to climb (ascending/descending ladders, forklift)
  • Ability to bend/stoop to pick up materials
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and greater with warehouse hand–trucks and other equipment
  • Must be able to work a minimum of a full shift while in standing/walking position
